How Do I Dry Out Canvas?

Canvas is made of a heavy weight, 100% woven cotton fabric. Typically, it's an off-white color and feels slightly rough to the touch. Canvas readily absorbs water, but it is also sturdy, breathable and easy to clean. It is prone to growing mildew, if stored wet. Canvas can be dried any number of ways from popping it into the dryer on low heat to leaving it in the sun to air dry. If you have a large piece of canvas such as, a canvas tent, you'll need a different tactic.

Close all windows, smoke flaps and the entrance to the tent.

Check the tent every fifteen minutes. The amount of time needed to dry out the canvas depends on the wetness of the tent. Sopping wet canvas can take a couple of hours to dry. Also, check the heat source periodically to ensure it's not overheating.
