Map out where your room will be placed against your trailer. Do not design a tent that will be taller then your camper or RV. A good place to start is with a 10-by-10-foot design. This allows enough room to enjoy, but it is small enough to store easily.
Cut the framing parts five feet long. You will need 24 lengths that are made of ¾ inch PVC pipe. This will allow the tent to collapse and store. It will also make construction simpler by using all the same length pieces.
Assemble framework using fittings. PVC fittings can be found that will work for corner pieces as well as joiners to make two five foot lengths into one 10 foot length. By using eight corner pieces and 12 joiners, a 10-by-10-foot cube can be made.
Clamp a piece of tarp that is 10 by 10 feet to the top of the frame. Clamp a 10-by10-foot piece of screen to each side of the frame. This should form the basic structure of your room.
Pin the panels while they are clamped in place. This will make sewing go smoother. Be sure to use enough pins so that the tent will stay together when it is removed from the frame. After removing the tent, use a sewing machine to stitch along the entire length of the tarp and screens. Use sturdy thread and triple stitching to ensure durability.
Cut pieces of tarp for doors. These can be any size you want and should match the entrance to your trailer or RV. Use a sewing machine to stitch them into the tent fabric. If one side of the door is left without a seam it can be used as an entrance flap. Now hang the tent over the frame again to be sure that everything fits properly.
