Kroka Expeditions was founded in 1996 in affiliation with the Hilltop Montessori School to offer wilderness adventures to its students. It later partnered with the Waldorf schools and adopted much of the Waldorf school's philosophy, with instructors trained in Waldorf singing, art and movement activities. Kroka offers both semester-long and summer programs in wilderness activities and survival. Dozens of individual sessions, each lasting two to three weeks, offer hands-on learning on wilderness topics including bow hunting, Native American traditions, birch bark canoe building, canoeing, wilderness writing, rock climbing and whitewater paddling. Tuition is on a sliding scale, and individual sessions range from $560 to $1,990.
