Sleepover Camps for Teens

During the summer, many teens complain of boredom. Sleepover camps are a way to combat that boredom by providing teens with a place to hang out with others their age and participate in a variety of fun activities. Camps are offered that last anywhere from a few days to the entire summer.
  1. Rockbrook Camp for Girls

    • Girls ages 6 through 16 can attend Rockbrook Camp for Girls in Brevard, North Carolina. During their multi-week sessions, girls can enjoy horseback riding, ropes courses, swimming, arts and crafts and drama, among other activities.

      The goal of the camp is to help girls build self-esteem and become more independent. As of 2010, camp costs range from $2,300 to $4,300 depending on which session is chosen. Approximately 190 campers can attend each session.

    Camp Hazen YMCA

    • Children in third through 10th grade can attend Camp Hazen YMCA in Connecticut. Campers choose their own activities during five activity periods: water sports, creative arts, land sports, outdoor pursuits and quest.

      The full cost of a one-week camp session is $825 and a two-week session is $1,395 as of 2010. Camp costs are offered in four tiers, and families pay based on their financial ability.

    Applejack Teen Camp

    • Located in Paul Smith's, New York, Applejack Teen Camp provides activities for teens ages 13 through 16. Teens participate in traditional camp activities such as canoeing and hiking and also take a variety of field trips to Niagara Falls, Toronto, and the Maine Coast among other places.

      Cabins for teens are separate for those from younger campers, although teens are required to participate in some camp activities. The camp runs for 7 1/2 weeks.

      The cost of the camp is $7,350 with half sessions available ranging in price from $3,950 to $4,500 as of 2010.

    Swift Nature Camp

    • Swift Nature Camp offers programs for children up to age 15 with counselor positions available for 16 and 17-year-olds. Campers can participate in activities such as snorkeling, rollerblading and canoeing.

      Environmental education programs focusing on animal care and tracking, recycling and water testing also are available for teens.
