Choose where to set up your camp. Ideally, you want to be in a quiet clearing, not too far away from civilization or your car. Try to pick a spot where the ground is level, and there are no rocks or sticks which could damage the tent.
Unpack the tent. Try to keep all the parts together, so you won't have to hunt several locations to find the parts you need.
Assemble the main tent parts. Insert the middle tent pole if your tent uses one, and then work from the corners. Carefully pull the tent into position, being careful not to rip the material. Insert corner tent poles if necessary, and stake each corner to the floor using a ground peg or tent stake.
Insert any additional tent poles. You may have poles which support the roof, or form a door way. Ensure all poles are inserted, as this will ensure your tent is secure and stable.
Check the tent over. All poles should be correctly attached and straight, and the material should be firm. The tent itself should be stable. If it is not, consider adding more tent stakes. You may also wish to add more tent stakes if you are expecting heavy winds.
