ATV Friendly Campgrounds in Michigan

The ATV-friendly campgrounds in Michigan offer access to miles of off-road vehicle trails. There are a range of trails that are appropriate for beginner, intermediate and advanced riders; some campgrounds also offer private tracks on site. Most campgrounds offer basic amenities and camping sites for tents, trailers and RVs, and are amenable to extended stays.

  1. Ogemaw Sport and Trail Center

    • The Ogemaw Sport and Trail Center campground provides easy accessibility to hundreds of miles of ATV trails in the area. The center has more than 120 acres of private land for trail riding. The tracks range in width from wide double tracks to tight single tracks. You can choose from several terrains: mud, deep sand, rocky, packed and washed out. The campground has its own motocross tracks for both novices and experts. There is even a track specifically for children 12 years of age and under that offers many age-appropriate obstacles over multiple lanes.

      The campground's amenities include power and water hookups, toilets, showers, sand volleyball, horsehoes, hiking and shady pavilions for ATV and motocross observers. In 2010, a single overnight stay is available for $25 while summer and yearly rentals are available for $800 and $1200, respectively.

    Happi Days Campground and Diner

    • Happi Days Campground provides ATV-friendly camping and dining on 26 acres just seven miles north of Grayling. The Frederic ATV/horse trails are located nearby and the campground provides easy access to several state forest trails that range in difficulty from beginner to advanced ATV rider. From the campground, visitors can enjoy nearby canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking, horseback riding and berry picking.

      A distinctive feature of this campground is the 1950s-inspired diner on the premises, which offers hearty meals in its nonsmoking dining room as well as carryout service. There are 40 tent and RV camping sites with water and power hookups, shower facilities and two rental cabins. Each site has a fire pit and picnic table.     Carrieville State Forest Campground

    • The Carrieville State Forest Campground is situated three miles from Luther and runs along the Little Manistee River. The campground is ATV-friendly and is connected to the Little Manistee Motorcycle Trail and Route. There is access to more than 47 miles of rolling, rocky and flat terrain off-road vehicle trails from the campground. The camping area includes 31 tent and small trailer sites (one of which is large enough for an RV). The rustic campground provides basic amenities, including potable water and vault toilets. Camp sites are available for $20 per night, according to 2010 prices. Note that visitors cannot make reservations; the sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
