Campgrounds in Southwest Lower Michigan

Southwest Michigan, the western edge of which is washed by the waters of the lake that gives the state its name, features an abundance of activities for the entire family. The region's attractions include hands-on museums for children, wineries, beaches along Lake Michigan, regional festivals, championship golf courses, downhill skiing and a hand-carved carousel. Campgrounds in the region offer close proximity to attractions as well as numerous opportunities to participate in outdoor recreational activities.

    • This seasonal campground in Riverside, Michigan, is only a short drive from the shores of Lake Michigan. Both RVers and tent campers are welcome at the 123-site campground, which provides full hookups at 40 of its sites, water/electric only at another 65 and no utilities at the remaining 18 sites. Amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, miniature golf, clubhouse, bike rentals, propane service, snack bar, restrooms and showers. The campground is open from April 15 to October 15.

    Leisure Valley RV Resort

    • Open from April 15 to October 15, this 106-site campground is in Decatur, 30.5 miles from Kalamazoo and 33.5 miles from Benton Harbor on Lake Michigan. Set on a wooded tract of 71 acres, the campground offers full hookups at all RV sites and has some primitive sites available for tent camping. Other amenities include a clubhouse, outdoor swimming pool, nature trails, miniature golf course, fishing pond, and basketball, shuffleboard and volleyball courts.

    Oak Shores Campground

    • Located in the heart of southwest Michigan near Decatur, this 248-site campground is open from April 15 to October 15 and welcomes both RV and tent campers. Full hookups are available at 222 of its sites and water/electric only at the remaining 26 sites. The campground, ringing the shores of Knickerbocker Lake, offers a wide array of amenities, including an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, game courts, ball fields, horseshoe pits, boat rentals, restrooms, showers, dump station, propane service and a community center/recreation hall. You also can rent a cabin or cottage.

    Oronoko Lakes Campground

    • Only 15 miles from both Lake Michigan and the Indiana state line, this 45-site campground in Berrien Springs offers campers a base from which to explore the southwestern corner of Michigan. Water/electric hookups are available at all sites. Anglers can fish the lakes that give the campground its name without a license. A bait shop and boat rentals are available.

    TriPonds Family Camp Resort

    • This 120-site campground is located in Allegan, 32.5 miles north-northwest of Kalamazoo. Water/electric hookups are available at 72 sites, four sites are reserved for tent campers and the remaining 44 sites are set aside for extended stays. Other amenities include an outdoor swimming pool, fishing pond, recreation hall, camp store, restrooms, showers, playground, petting zoo and game courts.
