Dance under the stars, shop at the open air market or sing along to the hits this summer in Redford, Michigan. The township of 55,000 is located in the southeastern part of the state, about 10 miles from Lake St. Claire and approximately 40 miles from Lake Erie. During July, the township comes alive with music, shopping, dancing and fun at the Marquee of Redford, the community's gathering place and amphitheater.
Fresh local produce is available on Sundays in July from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the summer farmer's market. Growers, farmers, nurseries and businesses offer their products, including vegetables, fruits and flowers. The weekly market is sponsored by Redford Township and the Downtown Development Authority.

Put on your dancing shoes and join friends at the Ballroom Under the Stars, in downtown Redford. An instructor jump-starts the evening by teaching basic ballroom dance skills. Hit the dance floor with friends and neighbors during the last two hours and practice the dances. The fun starts at 6 p.m. and lasts until 9 p.m. at the Marquee.
The Marquee amphitheater hosts area musicians once a month during the summer from 7 to 9 p.m. Past concerts have featured country artists, Motown performers and Top 40 tunes.
Open mic night calls to the creative teens of Redford to sing a song, recite a poem, tell a joke or share a story. The fun and friendship takes place on Thursday nights at 7:30 p.m. and is open to all middle school or high school Redford teens. The sponsors--Redford Township and Mercy Road Church--ask that teens keep the evening free of offensive lyrics, jokes or readings.
