Instructions

    • 1

Use the Amtrak website to determine your new date, route and cost. The reservations tab will allow you to find the schedule and cost. Do not make a new reservation.

    • 2

Call Amtrak reservations at (800) USA-RAIL or (800) 872-7245. Say "agent" or dial "0" for a live agent. Tell the agent that you want to change your reservation. You will need your reservation number and the original date of travel.

    • 3

Change sleeping car accommodations at least seven days in advance. First-class tickets should be changed at least one hour in advance.

    • 4

If your new ticket is more expensive, make arrangements to pay the difference. Amtrak accepts American Express, Diners Club, Discover, MasterCard, VISA and Universal Air Travel Plan (UATP).

    • 5

Write down the reservation number and date of your changed ticket.
