In 1907 a team of oil drillers serendipitously tapped a hot spring that later became one of the most popular camping resorts in Central California. Nestled into the coastal foothills about two miles from the beach, Avila Hot Springs Resort offers RV camping and vacation rentals in addition to tent camping. An all day pass to soak in the hot springs is priced at $10, as of 2010. RV sites are $35 to $45 per day and tent camping is $30 per day.

Le Sage Riviera is an RV park located 17 minutes south of Avila Beach, in Grover Beach. While RV's are welcome at Le Sage Riviera, tent camping is not allowed. Rates for RV camping vary based upon the size of the recreational vehicle, season and the number of people camping. As of 2010, summer seasonal rates range from $36 to 49 dollars per day for up to four people.
