High Falls State Park sits on 1,050 acres with a 650-acre lake in the park. Park visitors can also enjoy the waterfall at the Towaliga River and a trip to the past to the remaining grist mill foundation. Back in the 1880s, this park had a prosperous industrial town with several stores, a grist mill, cotton gin, blacksmith shop, shoe factory and hotel. Today, visitors can stay in numerous tent and RV sites, or in one of six yurts. Yurts are circular, tent-like cabins 20 feet in diameter and 12 feet high with a clear dome skylight. Constructed with a wooden lattice wall support, insulation and finished pine floor, this sturdy cabin houses five. Electricity, water and heat are included, as is a rear deck and frame furniture. Linens and utensils are not provided. Guests are required to stay for two nights, except for Memorial Day, Labor Day, Independence Day and Thanksgiving when they are required to stay three nights. Guests can stay a maximum of 14 days.
