Campgrounds Nearest to Bone Lake, Wisconsin

Located less than 30 miles from Wisconsin's western border with Minnesota, Bone Lake provides fishermen -- not too mention boaters and swimmers -- with access to nearly 1,800 acres of blue waters filled with musky, northern pike, largemouth bass and pan fish. The lake's only campground lies along its eastern shore, but you'll find a few other places to park an RV or pitch a tent in the surrounding area.
  1. Pine Grove Resort and Campground

    • You can camp along Bone Lake's eastern shore in tents or on RV sites that come complete with electricity and water hookups. The campground has boat rentals and a boat launch, as well as boat docks for tying up. Flush toilets, hot showers and a dump station are provided onsite. Pine Grove Resort and Campground is open from May through October.

    Interstate State Park

    • Known as Wisconsin's oldest state park, Interstate State Park is a good place to begin or end a hike along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail. The park, located less than 9 miles west of Bone Lake, has an interpretive center featuring information on the glaciers that formed the area's topography. The park has two campgrounds open from spring through autumn, with some camping sites overlooking the St. Croix River. South Campground sits among tall trees, with vault toilets provided onsite. North Campground -- located in a grassy, partially-shaded area with views of the river -- has hot showers, electricity and flush restrooms.

    D-N Campground

    • Tube or kayak on the Apple River or swim and fish in its waters while based at the D-N Campground, located 15 miles south of Bone Lake. The campground facility, comprised of 30 sites situated along the banks of the river, features the convenience of flush toilets, a dump station and hot showers. Nature trails wind along the river as well. You'll also find easy access for your boat at the campground's boat launch. You can choose from campsites in sunshine or shade, with or without hookups.

    Governor Knowles State Forest

    • Governor Knowles State Forest, northwest of Bone Lake, has several camping options, all within 30 miles of the lake. The rustic St. Croix Family Campground -- set back 1/4 mile from the St. Croix River -- provides 30 sites, with fire rings, picnic tables and tent pads. Vault toilets and a dump station are found onsite. In addition, a nature trail leads to the nearby Wood River. Horse riders can camp with horses at 40 sites in the Trade River Campground. In addition to fire rings and picnic tables, each campsite has a horse tie post and plenty of room to park a horse trailer. Campers without horses may use the campground from June 15 through August 15 and during the winter months.
