Rancho Lomitas sits on 177 acres of overgrazed scrubland that were reclaimed and restored by the couple who now owns it. They've replanted natural grasses and flowering shrubs, attracting a variety of birds and butterflies, and they run a nursery and give native plant tours. The campground is popular with birders--more than 136 species have been spotted at the ranch. The RV and simple campsites are landscaped. What you will not find is cable TV, paved roads or lots of commercial amenities. The ranch has full hookups for RVs and primitive campsites, restrooms with hot showers and low rates.
