At nearly 56,000 acres, Georgia's Lake Hartwell is one of the largest bodies of water in the Southeast. Campgrounds near the lake give visitors the opportunity to enjoy an abundance of history, beauty, and recreational activities.
The man-made lake boasts 962 miles of shoreline between South Carolina and Georgia. Lying at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains, Lake Hartwell is steeped in natural beauty. Nearby historic attractions include plantation houses and the Pendleton Historic District. The lake is home to a half-dozen sport fish species, and boating and swimming opportunities abound. The area also offers wildlife viewing, hiking and hunting.
Situated on 62 acres, Lake Hartwell Camping and Cabins provides 120 sites and eight cabins. Of the 120 sites, 60 have full hookups for RVs and 60 provide water and electric power for tent camping. Seven of the cabins are fully equipped with kitchen, bathroom, air conditioning and television, while one rustic cabin affords only beds and air conditioning.
