Situated on the Alabama-Georgia state line, West Point Lake has 525 miles of shoreline and is fed by the Chattahoochee River. The lake covers 25,900 acres, offering ample opportunity for fishing, boating and other water activities. The USACE operates five nearby campgrounds. Amity, Holiday, Whitetail and Heard campgrounds are available at a fee of $16 per night for primitive sites or $22 for single sites with water and electric hookups. Ringer campground is free of charge and offers primitive camping sites, boat ramps and hiking trails. Fee campgrounds take reservations and staff resident park attendants. They also offer such amenities as showers, playgrounds, sanitary disposal stations, boat ramps, hiking trails and sports facilities.

With 692 miles of shoreline, Lake Lanier is situated in the Georgia Blue Ridge Mountains. Over 7.5 million people visit the lake every year. The USACE operates seven campgrounds adjoining Lake Lanier. Many are waterfront and all feature a grill, lantern pole, picnic table and fire ring. Primitive campsites are available for $17 per night, campsites without hookups for $19 and campsites with hookups are available for $25 to $27 depending on the amps of electricity required. Over 90 percent of the sites can be reserved, with the remainder available to a first-come, first-served basis.

Originally built for flood control, the Hartwell Dam and Lake is situated on the Georgia and South Carolina state line. It has 962 miles of shoreline and covers almost 56,000 acres. Visitors may stay at one of the 9 Hartwell Lake campgrounds. Many of the campgrounds provide showers, boat ramps, sanitary disposal stations and playgrounds. Campsites with or without water and electric hookups are available. Primitive campsite fees begin at $10, and campsites with hookups range from $20 to $22 per night.

Located just 30 miles away from Atlanta, Allatoona Lake offers fishing, camping and boating opportunities to almost seven million visitors each year. Eight campgrounds offer all offer full amenities, including hookups, showers, handicapped access, grills and tables, swimming access, laundry, toilets and boat ramps. Most have campground attendants on duty. Campsite fees range from $16 to $24 per night, depending on the campground.
