How to Renew a Canadian Passport in Los Angeles, California

If you are a Canadian citizen living in Los Angeles, renewing your passport is important for you to travel to and from Canada and the United States. If you have a family emergency or a business trip in Canada and need to travel there quickly, you will need an up-to-date passport. The Canadian government has created an easy way for you to renew your passport by mail. For a simple renewal, your passport must have been: valid for five years, a regular passport issued in Canada, never reported stolen, and issued under your current name.

  Visit the Canadian government's passport renewal site at Passportcanada.gc.ca. Fill out the form on your computer, including your name, contact information, appearance information, occupation, references and emergency contacts. Print out the form.

  Submit two identical photos 50 mm x 70 mm. These photos must be taken by a photographer, and the name of the photographer or studio, address and date the photo was taken must be listed on the back of one of the photos.

  Include a check or your credit card information to pay the passport renewal fee.

  Mail your application, photos and payment to Passport Canada. The address is listed on page one of the application. The average amount of processing time by mail is 20 business days.
