How to Renew a Belize Passport

Both embassies abroad and local government offices will service the passport needs of Belize's citizens. In addition to the Washington D.C. office, Belize citizens in the U.S. can renew their passports at Belize's Permanent Mission to the United Nations in New York and at the Consulate General of Belize in Los Angeles. When renewing your passport, be sure to strictly follow the government guidelines so the application proceeds as smoothly as possible.

  1. The Passport Renewal Process

      Visit an official government office in Belize or the official Embassy of Belize website, Embassyofbelize.org to obtain a passport application form. Fill out the form completely with blue or black ink.

      Passport renewal applications must be authenticated by a Recommender.

      Authenticate your application. You must have a "Recommender" complete section 5. An acceptable Recommender may be a licensed legal or medical practitioner, a Notary or an approved government employee.

      Include two copies of a recent photograph with the application form. These pictures must not be larger than 2.5 by 2.5 inches or smaller than 2 by 1.5 inches. Your Recommender must endorse the back of these pictures with their signature.

      You must include your old passport with your application.

      Include your previous passport with the application materials. If you are recently married, include the previous passport and an original marriage certificate issued by the Government of Belize.

      Include the passport fee. It is $100 for an standard 32 page passport.

      Make an appointment. Your application may be submitted in person at any Belize Embassy abroad or Immigration Office in Belize.
