Obtain India Passport Application
Get the passport application that can be obtained online (see resources) or at the closest passport office in your state.
Fill out Indian Passport Application
Fill out the form in all capital letters using blue or black ink only. Do not write outside of the fill in box or your application will be rejected.
Submit Two Copies of Proof of Address
Submit two copies of proof of address that can be in the form of a utility bill, bank statement, employer letterhead verifying employment, spouse or parent passport, election commission identity card or a ration card. If submitting a ration card additional proof will be required.
Submit Two Copies of Indian Citizenship Documentation
Provide proof of citizenship by registration or naturalization.
Submit Two Copies of India Government Employee Identity Certificate
If you are a Indian government employee additional forms need to filled out and submitted Annexure B and Annexure I.
Repatriated India Citizens
Submit any forms or passport if India had to repatriate you and proof you repaid the government for repatriation cost.
Submit any changes when you renew your passport such as marrital status, divorce, your expired Indian passport, address changes or any changes since your last passport was issued.
Submit proof of parentage if applying for a minor child's passport.
Submit four 2" X 2" color photos
Color background should be white or off white and be centered with eyes open and in a normal expression. the picture should be a full head shot with top of the head to under the chin visible.
Submit passport and Fees to the Following:
1. Passport office nearest you in your district or a Passport collection center
2. Speed Post Centers
3. If you live abroad, submit passport to the embassy closest to you
