Visit a website that allows you to calculate the mileage in between cities. Some websites are googlemaps.com, randmcnally.com or symsys.com (randmcnally.com and symsys.com are for U.S. and Canadian cities only).
Enter the departure city and state or province in the appropriate field, and enter the arrival city and state or province in the appropriate field. Press the "calculate" or "get mileage" button, and the site will determine the miles between each city.
If you are calculating the distance between cities outside of North America, use googlemaps.com. Enter the departure city and country and press "Search Maps." Then, press "Directions." Enter the departure city and country in the "A" field, and the arrival city and country in the "B" field. Press "Get Directions." The site will calculate the directions and mileage between each city.
Use a ruler and a world atlas to calculate the mileage between each city. The atlas will tell you how many miles each inch on the ruler represents.
Contact a travel agent. If you are traveling to two different countries and cannot calculate the mileage using a computer or an atlas, a travel agent will get you the mileage between the two cities.
