The village of Brooklyn is a small community in the state of Michigan. There are more than 50 lakes within a 10-mile radius of the village, which is why it's referred to as the "Heart of the Lakes." The area around Brooklyn is a popular camping destination with its lakes, streams and forests. The Happy Valley Campground is one of a few campgrounds that families can choose as a vacation spot.
Happy Valley Campground is located in Brooklyn, which is in the southern part of Michigan. It's about an hour and a half west of Detroit. Located just off Highway 12, it's easily accessible for those who want to travel to local amenities during their stay. There's an abundance of lakes and streams around Brooklyn, both natural and man-made. The Vineyard Lake and Plum Brook Drain stream are the closest natural water elements to the campgrounds. There's also a large woodland area with plenty of wildlife to see.
The campground has all the amenities you'd expect. There are allocated spaces for tents, trailers, RVs, cars and pop-up campers. Cooking can be done by building campfires and using the communal on-site grills. Visitors can also use water hookups and picnic tables. If visitors need extra grocery supplies, Brooklyn's two plazas are a short drive away.
Happy Valley has many outdoor activities available for its visitors. Vineyard Lake is the nearest lake that is a popular spot for fishing, swimming, canoeing and kayaking. For those looking for an adrenaline rush, Huron River has a whitewater paddling spot. Cambridge State Historic Park is ideal for a relaxing walk with a view.
Visitors with an interest in golf can spend time at two local golf courses. Irish Hill Golf Club is a nine-hole course with a rolling terrain. There's also a clubhouse with a pizzeria for all the family. Alternatively, Hills Heart of the Lakes Golf Course is an 18-hole course for both amateur and professional golfers. Other facilities include a bar and grill, and a pro shop.
The temperature in the summer can reach 80 degrees Fahrenheit during the day and falls to the 60s at night. The summer months also see rainfall, with July being the wettest time of year at Happy Valley. If visiting in winter, the daytime temperate is in the 20s and can drop to the 10s during the night. February is the driest month of the year.
