Georgia Campgrounds That Are South of Atlanta Off of I-75

Although most of Georgia's campgrounds are found in the north Georgia mountains and in the state's eastern lake country, several camping options exist in the southern part of Georgia. Travelers making their way down Interstate 75 will pass several campgrounds south of Interstate 285 near Atlanta until they reach the Florida state line.
  1. Metro Atlanta

    • Nearest the city are several campgrounds. About half an hour south of the city sits two state parks with campgrounds --- High Falls State Park in Jackson and Indian Springs State Park in Flovilla. With your RV or tent campsite, enjoy picnic shelters and group camps on hundreds of acres, as well as a lake and trails. A KOA site also is located in Forsyth directly off the interstate, featuring RV and tent sites, cabins, fishing and modern amenities.

    Macon Area

    • The central Georgia area around Macon is home to several campgrounds. The most notable include one at the Tobesofkee Recreation Area in Macon, featuring campgrounds with full electrical and water hookups, as well as lakes, sandy beaches, tennis courts and three public parks. Just south of Macon in Perry, you'll find Fair Harbor RV Park with full-service sites, laundry facilities, nature trails and a fishing lake on more than 100 acres.

    South Central Georgia

    • Many south Georgia campgrounds offer picnic areas.

      Between Macon and the Florida line are several campgrounds along I-75. You can stay at a KOA site in Cordele, featuring RV and tent sites, cabins, a pavilion and kitchen and pool. You also may choose Southern Gates RV Park & Campgrounds, just south of Cordele in Arabi, with a pool, playground, laundry and two lakes on nearly 13 acres. Wanee Lake Country Club in Ashburn offers an RV park with grills, picnic tables, fire rings and wireless Internet in a golf community.

    Valdosta Area

    • Just before you head into Florida, you'll find several campgrounds in and around Valdosta. In Valdosta proper are Inland Harbor R.V. Park and River Park R.V. Park, both with full hookups, laundry, bathhouses and wireless Internet, among other amenities. Just north of the Florida line in Lake Park is Eagles Roost RV Resort, where you will find large sites, a pool, games, laundry, a conference center and grills.
