Cosby is a small town in eastern Tennessee, near the Smoky Mountains. It is 20 miles west of Gatlinburg, sitting between English Mountain to the north and Green Mountain to the east. Jellystone, Cosby Ranch and Smoky Bear Campground are three places to camp in Cosby.

    • Trees and wildlife are in abundance when camping.

      Great Smoky Jellystone Camp Resort is open from March 12 through Nov. 29. Camping accommodations include partial and full hookups for RVs and campers. Stream-side tent sites and condo/cabin rentals are available, too. Jellystone activities include concerts, karaoke, dances and Sunday service. Fishing and exploring cool mountain streams are part of experiencing what nature has to offer.

    Cosby Ranch

    • Cosby Ranch was formerly called Fox Den. Tent sites, both primitive and with electric and water, are available. Full and partial hookups are accessible for RVs. Cosby Ranch has an RV for rent. A bird aviary that is home to owls, blue jays and vultures is on site. Other activities include a fishing pond, swimming pool and hiking trails.

    Smoky Bear Campground

    • Smoky Bear Campground is open all year. The primitive tent section is separate from the RV campers. If you need a camper to camp in, you can rent either a 35-foot or a 40-foot camper. There also are four styles of cabins to choose from. Free movie rentals and a heated pool provide entertainment for those wanting to relax. Some of the outdoor activities you can experience are horseback riding, trail walking and whitewater rafting.
