The first glimpse of the New World seen by pilgrims landing in the area in 1620 was Cape Cod's white sands shimmering in the sun. The pilgrim's dropped anchor along the shores of Provincetown Harbor and camped for five weeks before continuing to Plymouth. Bring your RV or tent to camp on this historic cape in modern comfort with stunning views of the ocean.
Enjoy the beach in its natural state at the Cape Cod National Seashore. The park allows camping at Race Point Beach by permit for up to three weeks at a time in a self-contained RV. Tents and trailers are prohibited. The national park limits camping to 100 vehicles per night between July 1 through Labor Day. Pets can accompany you but may not exit your vehicle in plover nesting areas. Keep them on a leash when camping and pick up fecal matter. If you want to make a beach fire, secure a permit when buying your camping permit. Self-contained stoves and grills don't need permits. Make sure your vehicle and tires meet the park's requirements before booking your site.
Washburn Island nestles into Waquoit Bay as part of a national estuarine reserve. The island has nine family campsites and one group campsite for up to 25 people. Three composting toilets are the primitive campground's only amenity, and you must pack in your own water and pack out your own trash. The campground overlooks the bay and has a sandy beach where you can anchor or beach your craft. Your dog may come with you to the campground but is not allowed on the beach, and you must use a leash and pick up after it.
Scusset Beach State Reservation Campground tucks along the Cape Cod shoreline and the eastern end of the Cape Cod Canal. The campground's 98 sites include five tent-only sites along the shoreline and RV sites with water and electrical hookups. RV clubs with more than 20 rigs may reserve the Safari group site that has electric hookups. The campground's amenities include a swimming beach, dump station, wheelchair accessible restrooms and a community fire pit.
Camp with full amenities and an ocean view at Campers Haven midway along the Cape. The camping resort features a 500-foot private sand beach with oceanfront gazebo perfect for picnicking. RV sites provide full hookups, a picnic table and grill and sit side-by-side with no foliage between spaces. Enjoy recreational facilities that include sport courts, billiards and miniature golf. Dogs are welcome to join you from Labor Day through mid-June but are not allowed during the peak summer season. Secure your waterfront site with a reservation made as far ahead as possible.
