RV Campgrounds in and Around York County, VA

On the Virginia peninsula, York County is a veritable stomping ground for history buffs. In Yorktown, part of Virginia's Historic Triangle with Jamestown and Colonial Williamsburg, you can rediscover America's struggle for independence and tour one of the last battle sites of the Revolutionary War. Use one of the many RV-friendly campgrounds in the area as a home base to explore these historic spaces or enjoy nearby Busch Gardens theme park.

  1. Trusted Chain

    • Approximately 9 miles north of Williamsburg, the 180-acre Williamsburg KOA accommodates recreational vehicles from the first of March through mid-December. Pull your rig through, or back it in to one of the many lots, some of which fit recreational vehicles as long as 90 feet. Each site has water; 20-, 30- or 50-amp electrical hookups; free wireless Internet and cable television. The wooded campground has a heated pool near the entrance, and horseshoes, basketball and volleyball courts at the rear of the park.

    American Heritage RV Park

    • Just over 2 miles east of the small town of Toano, American Heritage RV Park is especially accommodating to very large recreational vehicles. The park has 95 paved lots with water and electrical hookups and side patios -- 70 of these have pull-through capabilities and are wide enough to fit rigs with pop-outs. The campground also has an in-ground swimming pool and a two-story inflatable water slide called "Hippo." Passes to the water slide are purchased separately from campsite fees. Four-seat family bicycles are also available to rent by the hour for an additional fee.

    Williamsburg RV and Camp Resort

    • Though most of the 158 sites at Williamsburg RV and Camp Resort are reserved for Thousand Trails campground chain members, some sites are reserved for the general public. These sites are shaded yet unpaved and come equipped with water and sewer hookups, a fire ring, grill and picnic table. Rigs that park in these spots must not exceed 47 feet in length. The year-round campground features a swimming pool, whirlpool spa and miniature golf course. Weekend reservations require a two-night stay, or three nights if it's a holiday weekend. The RV park is about 11 miles north of Williamsburg.

    Anvil Campground

    • Roughly 4 miles north of Williamsburg, Anvil Campground hosts 77 campsites. Sixty-six of these are devoted to recreational vehicles. Sites are equipped with 30- and 50-amp electrical, water, sewer and Internet. Lots at the park's east end come with cable hookups as well. Eight sites at the northeast end of the park are especially wide, making them suitable for big rigs with pop-outs. The campground operates a shuttle service that transports you to area attractions, including Colonial Williamsburg, for a small fee.
