Tallulah Falls was discovered in 1819 by visitors and is home to the Tallulah Gorge, which was created over the course of millions of years. The falls were named after the five waterfalls that descend on the Gorge. Tallulah Falls is located in the northeast corner of the Georgia mountains. During the spring, summer and fall, visitors can gather at Bluegrass Square in downtown Tallulah Falls to see bluegrass bands in concert on Saturday nights.
Many things are available to see and do at River Campground. First, it has an office and information center where campers can pick up free maps and brochures about nearby attractions including hiking trails, waterfalls and antique shops, though maps aren't required to find these attractions because they are fairly easy to find from the campground.
River Campground has campsites for both tents and RVs located right on the Tallulah River. Cabins are available for as low as $35 and bunkhouses are a flat $10 per person for groups. They offer covered docks in a prime trout fishing area as well. The "Cabins on the River" is known as the "Chalet" and features a game room, ping pong and bimini ring toss. Campers are encouraged to contact River Campground for more information and to make reservations.
