Ascertain which type of visa you will need, if any. Citizens of the US, EU countries, Australia, Canada and Japan do not need a tourist visa and can stay in the country up to 90 days. Contact the Guatemalan embassy or consulate nearest to you if you have questions concerning your particular country (see Resources for Guatemalan embassy contact information).
If you are from a country not listed above or are applying for a non-tourist visa, obtain the Visa Application form from your nearest Guatemalan embassy or consulate.
Attach two passport photos, your valid passport and a photocopy of your return or onward ticket to your completed application form.
If applying by mail, attach a stamped, self-addressed envelope to your package.
If you are applying for a business visa (180 days maximum stay), also attach copies of your bank statements from the last three months, a copy of you credit card, a letter from your employer related to your travel that explains the reasons for your visit and expected itinerary. In addition to the passport itself, business visa applicants must attach a passport photocopy endorsed by the nearest embassy or consulate for authentication.
Attach the required funds and visit the embassy or consulate to get your visa in just one day. Otherwise, send your package by mail. Most visas cost between $30 and $60.
Wait about four weeks for your visa to be authorized by Guatemalan authorities, after which time your documents will be returned to you.
