Swiss Air Baggage Policy

Swiss International Airlines allows a certain amount of luggage free of charge, depending on what type of ticket you have bought. Weight allowances range from 88 lbs. to 44 lbs. plus a carry-on not exceeding 17 lbs. Travelers to and from the U.S. and Canada have greater free baggage allowances.
  1. U.S Canada

    • Swissair passengers from the United States, Canada and Cameroon, or if with a Round-the-World Star Alliance ticket, face size restrictions. Checked-in luggage must not measure more than an overall 62 inches. Swiss First, or Swiss Business travelers are allowed two free pieces of luggage, weighing a maximum of 70 lbs. each. Economy class passengers are allowed two free bags at 50 lbs. each.

    Size

    • Baggage on most others flights is not subject to size, only weight. If you are flying Swiss First, you are allowed free bags, up to 88 lbs., in Swiss Business, 66 lbs. and in economy passengers, 44 lbs.

    Excess Baggage

    • Overweight excess baggage may not be checked in at the regular counter and must be checked in as freight. Restricted items include: inflammable material, gases, gas containers, hazardous materials or other dangerous goods such as explosives.
