How to Install RV Replacement Awnings

Over time, Mother Nature and travel can take its toll on the awning that provides you shade and protection while camping in your RV. Replacing an awning is not a difficult project even if you're not very handy as long as you prepare properly by purchasing the correct awning and taking your time to install it. On a hot, sunny day you will truly appreciate the shade provided by your new awning.

Instructions

    • 1

Attach the awning railing to the top of the RV. This is the most important step in the entire installation process.

    • 2

Use the screws or bolts that came with the new awning to attach the railing to your measurements. Do not tighten with a power drill so you don't strip the bolts.

    • 3

Unroll the awning. Pull the awning tube down and toward you until it is fully unrolled. Slide the upper awning arm in place.

    • 4

Adjust the tension arm, using the tension knobs on each side. Adjust the tension for each tension arm appropriately.

    • 5

Unfold the support legs and place the legs against the floor line of the RV. Mark where they are located.

    • 6

Attach the bottom brackets and mount the legs to the bottom brackets where they were previously marked.
