Campgrounds Near Leelanau Peninsula, Michigan

The Leelanau Peninsula is located on Michigan's northwestern coast. Surrounded by Lake Michigan on the west and Grand Traverse Bay on the east, the area has an abundance of opportunities for recreation and water sports. Visitors can explore the sand dunes and jagged northern coastline at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore or visit cherry country at the southern end of the peninsula in Traverse City.
  1. Leelanau State Park

    • The Leelanau State Park is located at the northern-most tip of the Leelanau Peninsula, in Northport. The rustic campground at the park is nestled just off the shoreline and offers 51 campsites suitable for tents, trailers and RVs. Campsites are over-sized and feature a paved driveway with shaded yard, access to water, a picnic table and fire pit with grill. The campground provides several facilities, such as vault toilets, garbage disposal and lakeside picnic areas. Campground guests can take advantage of amenities offered to park visitors, including over eight miles of hiking and nature trails, a swimming area, children's playground, lakeside fishing areas, the Grand Traverse Lighthouse Museum and several nature observation decks. The campground is pet-friendly and is open from May through November. The closest restaurant, Stubb's Sweetwater Grill, is located about 10 minutes south of the park.

    Wild Cherry Resort

    • The Wild Cherry Resort is located among the cherry orchards of a fruit farm in the center of the Peninsula. The campground is located on a man-made lake and offers 75 campsites suitable for tents, trailers and RVs of all sizes. Campsites feature a paved driveway with over-sized lawn, full hookups with 20-, 30- or 50-amp service, cable television access, wireless Internet access and a picnic table. The campground offers guests many services and amenities, such as bathrooms and shower houses, 30 acres of private woods with trails for hiking, biking and wildlife viewing, a recreation lodge, horseshoe pits, volleyball court, driving range, two golf-holes and tours of the cherry orchards and vineyards. The campground is pet-friendly and is open year-round. The closest restaurants are located about five minutes southeast of the campground in Suttons Bay.

    Lake Leelanau RV Park

    • The Lake Leelanau RV Park is located just east of Point Oneida in the city of Lake Leelanau. The campground is nestled on 700 ft. of shoreline on Lake Leelanau and offers 196 campsites suitable for tents, trailers and RVs as large as big-rigs. Campsites feature a paved driveway with shaded lawn, full hookups with 50-amp service, cable television access, wireless Internet access, a picnic table and fire ring. The campground provides guests with numerous facilities and amenities, such as bathrooms and shower houses, a laundry facility, dump station, fish cleaning stations, children's playground, basketball courts, horseshoe pits, private beach access, boat docks, fishing areas, lakefront picnic areas and a general store. Guests can also rent fishing boats, pontoon boats, water bikes and pedal boats, kayaks, canoes and jet-skis for use on the lake. The campground is pet-friendly and is open year-round. The closest restaurants are located about 10 minutes north of the campground, on Main Street.
