Lodging Near the Yosemite Valley

Yosemite National Park is located in central California on the western side of the Sierra Nevada mountain range. The best time to visit Yosemite is during the spring, when waterfalls are full and the park has not yet received its summer rush of 3.5 million yearly visitors. Accommodations range from rustic Camp 4 to the Ahwanee, one of the most elegant hotels in the world. Be sure to book your reservations early, as accommodations near Yosemite Valley tend to fill up fast.
  1. The Ahwanee

    • Sporting a nightly rate of $582, as of 2010, the Ahwanee is a cut above other Yosemite Valley lodging options. Ranked as a four-diamond hotel by the Automobile Association of America, the Ahwanee offers fine dining and amenities such as noon tea service, bathrobes and maid service twice daily.

    Yosemite Lodge

    • Best suited for families and group vacations, Yosemite Lodge is located in the heart of Yosemite Valley at the base of Yosemite Falls. Enjoy the bed and breakfast package for $231 per night, as of 2010; a room only is $208. Yosemite Lodge at the Falls features two eco-friendly rooms that were installed as prototypes. These quarters, designed for environmentally responsible use, can be requested by including a note with your reservation.

    Curry Village

    • Opened in 1899 on the motto of "a good bed and a clean napkin with every meal," Curry Village has long been an affordable way to stay in Yosemite Valley, featuring motel rooms, cabins and canvas tent cabins. Cooking facilities are not available at Curry Village, but groceries and restaurants are nearby in Yosemite Village. A nonheated tent ranges from $92 for the tent only to $172 for a hiker's pack complete with a hiking guide, lunch and backpack.

    Housekeeping Camp

    • Designed for campers who enjoy the outdoors yet do not want the hassle of setting up a tent, Housekeeping Camp offers modest camping units with spectacular views along the Merced River. One double bunk bed and two single bunk beds are included in the river view units, which cost $134 per night, as of 2010. Keep in mind that camping units do not include bedding.
