A passport is an internationally recognized identification document that is issued by the government.       Find the closest location to your address to apply for a passport. The U.S. Department of State website gives detailed information on each facility. Go the the "Passport Acceptance Facility" search page and enter your zip code. You may also search by city and state. A complete listing will be shown on the following page. As of November 2010, there were 13 locations in Tucson.

      Make an appointment. Click on the links provided in the "acceptance facility" list to see the operating hours and phone number of each facility.

      Fill out the form DS-11. The form can be found on the Travel.State.Gov website. Print the form and fill in all of the required information, but don't sign it.

      Go to the acceptance facility and sign and submit your DS-11 in person. You will need to show proof of citizenship (previously issued U.S. passport, U.S. birth certificate, naturalization certificate) and present identification. Be sure to bring photocopies of all documents presented. You will also need to provide two approved passport photos. Passport photos must be 2 x 2 inches, taken within six months of application and must be identical.

      Pay the applicable fee to process your passport. Currently, an adult passport costs $140 for the application, as well as a $25 execution fee. Your passport to be mailed to you. Normal passport service takes about six weeks until receipt. To expedite your passport, you will need to pay an additional $60.
