Before starting your DYI project, collect the appropriate tools: You will need an Aero Flo vent cover kit from your local camping supply or auto parts store. This will contain all the tools needed to install your Aero Flo vent. You will also need a drill and bits, Philips and flat head screwdrivers and an adjustable wrench with sockets. Keep in mind, the size of these tools will depend on the size of the Aero Flo vent cover you purchase. Next, carefully climb on to the roof of your RV. Be sure to use caution, and stand as far from the edge as possible. Place the vent cover over the vent.
After placing the cover over the vent on the roof, have someone inside the RV open the vent using the controls inside the RV. Open the vent until it touches the Aero Flo vent cover. After the vent is open, center the Aero Flo vent cover on both sides of the vent on the roof. After the cover is centered, mark where the hinged brackets will go, then remove the cover.
Drill holes on the spots you marked for the hinged brackets. Do this by placing the hinged brackets in position and then drilling through the holes. Next, put the carriage bolts into the brackets, then screw the brackets into the Aero Flo vent with the drill. Place the Aero Flo vent cover over the carriage bolts and add a flat washer. Finally, lock the washer and nut into each carriage bolt. Your Aero Flo vent is now ready for use.
